Motor Sports is the generic term given to any sports that involve racing something that is powered by a motor. This normally comes to mean car and motorbike racing, however it can include aeroplane, boat, snowmobile, hovercraft, truck and lawn mower racing.

However it is the two major classes that attract the most support. The biggest motor sport in the world is probably F1. These open four wheel racers can reach speeds as high as 300 kmh, while they sit just inches off the ground. Other popular car racing series include Nascar, V8 Super Cars and the World Rally Championship, which is the premier off road car racing circuit.

Motorcycle racing can be broadly split up into two categories. On road and off road. The off road races are exactly as they sound –off road. The premier road racing circuit for motorbikes is the Moto GP circuit. These custom built bikes can reach speeds of up to 349km/h!

There are currently a couple of Aussies doing great things in the world of motor sport. Mark Webber is one of the leading drivers on the F1 circuit, while Casey Stoner is former Moto GP World Champion.
